To promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Malayalam language and literature among college students and to provide a platform for students to express themselves creatively through various forms of Malayalam art, including literature, poetry, drama, and music.
Objectives:
Organize regular Malayalam language workshops and classes to enhance students’ proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking Malayalam.
Host literary events such as poetry readings Day observation ,Field trips,book clubs, and writing competitions to encourage creativity and appreciation for Malayalam literature.
The Thanimalayalam Club of Al Shifa College of Arts and Science organized a wide range of literary and cultural programmes during the academic year 2025–2026 with the aim of promoting reading habits and appreciation of Malayalam literature among students and faculty. The flagship series Ente Vayana – Adhyapakarude Vaayanaanubhavangaliloode and Ente Vayana – Vidhyarthikal Nadathunna Pusthakaavalokanam provided vibrant platforms for teachers and students to share their reading experiences on diverse literary works. In addition, the club observed Reading Day with faculty book reviews, conducted Basheer Anusmaranam to commemorate Vaikom Muhammad Basheer, and organized regular reading sessions like Vayana Virunnu, fostering meaningful literary discussions.
The club also extended its activities beyond reading sessions by organizing culturally and socially engaging programmes such as the storytelling series in Collaboration with IKS Cell Oru Kadha Sollattuma, a student motivation session featuring Ms. Rizwana K. Y., a Pulluvan Paattu performance in connection with Kerala Piravi, and collaborative initiatives like Women, Words, and Wisdom and a literary interaction at Deshiya Granthalayam, Melattur. These programmes collectively created a dynamic and reflective literary environment, encouraging critical thinking, cultural awareness, and a deeper engagement with literature among the academic community.
