COFE – COLLEGE FITNESS EDUCATION PROGRAMME

College Fitness Education Programme (COFE) introduced by the Department of Physical Education, University of Calicut to attract the college students to regular physical exercise so that good health can be maintained among student community. In response to the health challenges faced by young people today and their decreasing productivity, we have adopted the program aimed at helping them achieve their full potential through enjoyable physical activities. By offering a variety of fun activities like sports, exercises, dancing, and yoga, we aim to improve their health and performance. The Dept. provides the necessary resources and support to get them started and keep them engaged, while continuously monitoring and adjusting the program to ensure its effectiveness. Our goal is to create a sustainable program that empowers young students to lead healthier lives and excel in their studies or work.

Physical training program for Armed Forces Aspirants

The Department of Physical Education at ACAS has designed physical training sessions for students who wish to join the armed forces (Police, Fire Service, Exercise, and Central Armed Forces). The sessions are planned for one hour per day (morning/evening), and the physical efficiency test is conducted once every month. After analyzing the results, the training sessions are scheduled according to individual performance.

The Department of Physical Education at ACAS conducts sports quota selection trials every year for various sports disciplines. The selection trials are based on the performance of the participating students and the certified merit they possess. The selected students are awarded sports scholarships and receive fee concessions based on their performance. Some of our students are participating in the Kerala Premier League (Football), State and District-level tournaments in various sports disciplines. We are facilitating students to undergo referee, umpire, and scorer tests to help them pursue alternative career paths and achieve their goals.

Student Initiatives

The Department offers football training sessions for the students of AMLP School, Annappamkuzhi, in Keezhattur village. The training sessions are conducted through the students of Al Shifa College of Arts and Sciences. The sessions take place both at the school ground and the college ground.
