Department of Computer Science

The Department of Computer Science at ACAS was established in 2023 with the launch of the Bachelor Programme in Computer Application (BCA). In line with the basic academic philosophy of ACAS, the Department follows the rigorous transformations that sweep across the discipline and keep the students updated and upskilled to meet the emerging frontiers. With a curriculum that combines application and theory in a judicious blend, the Department prepares the learners to be capable of applying what they have learned or what they believe that they have learned. The foundation we lay, exposing them to various areas of computer application, enables them to build careers that are rewarding and challenging. The activities at the department keep pace with the industry through expert interactions, institution visits, internships, and student exchange programmes. Add-on courses and training are provided through collaborations with other institutions to help them identify their career destinations rather early. AI, Data Analytics, Robotics, and other emerging areas are engaged by the faculty through supplementary programs and add-on courses. The department provides value-additions through conferences, workshops, webinars, project exhibitions, and self-development courses.

Outreach/ Extension

CyberSmart, by Computer Science Students, aims to help higher secondary school students navigate the digital world responsibly. We focus on peer-to-peer engagement through interactive sessions, fostering camaraderie for open discussions. Tailored workshops cover real-world cyber threats with practical activities for better understanding. Encouraging undergrads to create resources like posters and presentations empowers them to share knowledge. Live demonstrations of cyber threats and Q&A sessions involve higher secondary school students actively. Continuous feedback and assessments ensure the program’s effectiveness, with peer evaluations maintaining quality. “CyberSmart” relies on enthusiastic undergraduates to build a culture of cyber awareness and responsibility among the next generation.

Capacity Building/ Skill Enhancement Initiatives

he department has established a daily blog initiative known as “Datadives,” providing students with a platform to actively engage and enhance their skills. Through this program, students are encouraged to explore various facets of their abilities, offering a diverse range of topics and perspectives. Each day, a different student has the opportunity to present a blog, showcasing their unique insights and expertise.

At our Department we prioritize the enhancement of students’ skill sets through a dedicated weekly session known as Skill Hour. This structured program follows a pre-planned schedule, meticulously designed to encompass a comprehensive range of essential skills in the field of Computer Science. Covering both soft and hard skills, this initiative aims to continually develop and elevate the competency of our students. Each semester will strategically emphasize different skill categories, ensuring a well-rounded and progressive approach to skill enhancement.
