Students' Initiative in Palliative (SIP) is an initiative by the young, vibrant student community of
the college. The unit will be instrumental in ensuring consistent involvement of students in
spreading awareness on palliative care, hands-on patient care and mobilizing volunteers, material
and financial resources. SIP will be engaged in organising affordable support program for the
palliative care needy people in the locality. The campaign helps the students to identify a genuine
opportunity to better their own lives and of the community as a whole. Participation of student
community in palliative care is possible as Social participation towards a common public, which
will help mould an integral character of student communities around the society.

Objectives

Palliative Care Orientation

The Students Initiatives in Palliative care Al Shifa College of Arts & Science in association with NSS organized a Palliative Care Orientation Program on 27 October 2025 at 11:00 AM in the Seminar Hall. The session was conducted by the Palliative Care Society ,Melattur,with the objective of creating awareness among students about the importance of compassionate care and community involvement in supporting patients with chronic and life-limiting illness.


Palliative Day Observation

The Students Initiatives in Palliative care Al Shifa College of Arts & Science in association with NSS in collaboration with Melatur Pain and Palliative Clinic, observed Palliative Care Day on 15 January 2026 at Melatur town. The event aimed to raise awareness about palliative care and contribute to the noble cause of supporting individuals in need.

The volunteers participated in a message rally to disseminate information about palliative care and its significance in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with serious illnesses. The rally, adorned with placards and banners, traversed through Melatur town, effectively reaching out to the local community.

Visit to Pratheeksha Buds School, Pandikkad

The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of Al Shifa College of Arts and Science in association with SIP organized a visit to Pratheeksha Buds School, Pandikkad on 27 October 2025, as part of its community outreach and social responsibility initiatives. The visit aimed to bring smiles to the faces of differently-abled children and to nurture in the volunteers a deeper sense of empathy, inclusiveness, and social commitment.
