Women Development Cell, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science organised a legal awareness
session for female students on 19 August 2022, at 11.30 am at college seminar hall. The session
was coordinated by Ms. Ashida A.P, Assistant Professor, Dept. Of Commerce and WDC
coordinator. The Session was initiated with principal address, done by Ms. Saritha. K, Vice
Principal, Dept. Of English and the session was handled by Ms. Asija Pullanholi, Advocate,
Manjeri. In the programme she explained the different laws and Acts for the protection of
women, with her experience. She shared various cases that she handled in her professional life
and related it to the situation that students were going through. She mentioned the Dowry
Prohibition Act 1961, Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, the Indecent
Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986 so on and so forth.  In her talk she stressed the
relevance of awareness of these laws in the current scenario. Students actively participated in the
session and sought the information that they needed to know.

The session ended with an official vote of thanks by student coordinator of WDC, Ms. Salukripa,
V Semester B Com Finance.
