The Publication Wing & the Department of English, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science,
jointly brought out the Proceedings of the National Student Conference on English Fiction
since 2000 on 20 May 22. The book that carries ISBN- 6051/ISBN/2022/A was handed over
by Dr. P. Unneen, Managing Trustee, Shifa Medicare Trust, to Ms. Saritha. K, Head, Dept of
English and Coordinator, Publication Wing. Dr. Babu. P. K, Principal, ACAS, Mr. Pilakkal
Hamza, Chief Executive, Shifa Medicare and Mr. Razaque, Secretary Shifa Medicare Trust
were also present on the occasion.
The book is a compilation of select articles presented at the National Student Seminar
conducted on 8 & 9 December 2021 by the Department of English, Al Shifa College of Arts
and Science, Perinthalmanna, in collaboration with Farook College (Autonomous), Calicut.
In the select articles published in the book, scholars deliberate on new literary trends in
postmillennial English fiction. An article titled "Illustrated and the Blending of Art Forms"
explores the new genre in detail. Visual novels and trends in translation are examined
critically in papers. 'The new sincerity ethos', comparatively recent a trend in writing, is
subjected to scrutiny in an article. The young scholars also explored the 'dystopian elements'
in contemporary fiction in the articles compiled in this book. The toppled construction of the
hero-villain binary is yet another topic discussed here. The ever-significant psychoanalytic
views on current fictional works are also subjected to analysis in one of the articles.

The select eight articles from the presenters at the National Student Seminar found a place in
the book. The student authors were sent the print version of the book. The book was designed
by Mubashir of II B. Com Finance. Ms. Saritha. K, Head, Dept. of English, Ms. Renjitha. K.
R, and Ms. Sabina, Assistant Professors of English, were the editors of the book with Dr.
Babu. P. K, Principal, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, as the Chief Editor.
