Report on the faculty empowerment session titled, ‘Handling Gen Z’, organized by the Faculty Development Centre, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science on 27 August 21 at College Auditorium

‘Handling Gen Z’, a Faculty Empowerment Session was organized by the Faculty Development Centre, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, on 27 August ’21 at 2. 30 pm at the College Auditorium. The holder of Guinness World Record for non-stop 72 hours of training, and the Managing Director, LEAD College of Management (the institution with which Dept. of Commerce, AL Shifa College of Arts and Science, has signed MoU), Dhoni, Palakkad, Dr. Thomas. K. George, was the Chief Guest and presenter for the show. The session started with an ice breaker, asking the participants, comprising of teaching and administrative staff of Al Shifa College of Pharmacy, Nursing, Paramedical Science and Arts and Science, to group, keeping social distance, and to jot down the challenges being faced by the staff while dealing with the present generation. Lack of respect for teachers, unwillingness to accept responsibility, intolerance, straightforwardness of the generation were the foremost concerns, the participants discussed and founded. Each of these points of discussions were selected at random and was examined and explained by Mr. Thomas, throwing anecdotes from his experience as a teacher. His reading and analysing of these challenges made the participants figure out that patience, tolerance and let-go-ego attitude are to be practiced and followed from the teacher end first. The session was more of infotainment and the vehement participation from the audience’s end made the session live and interactive.
Dr, Babu. P. K, Principal, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, welcomed gathering in which, Dr. P. Unneen, the Management Trustee, Shifa Medicare Trust, Dr. Pilakkal Hamza, CEO, Mr. Suhail Hamza, General Manager, Dr. Suriaprakash, Principal of Al Shifa College of Pharmacy, Dr. G. Thilagavati Roy, Principal of Al Shifa College of Nursing and Prof. Sudheesh. R, Principal of Al Shifa College of Paramedical Science were present. Mr. Junise Vazhayil, Vice-Principal, Al Shifa College of Pharmacy, proposed the vote of thanks. The session got concluded at 4.45 pm. Mrs. Saritha. K, Head, Dept. of English, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, coordinated the event.
