Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, in its consistent strive towards excellence, organised a State-level Magazine Workshop, ‘Campusukalile Sargavegangal’ on how to design a creative Magazine June 3 2021. The session commenced at 10.30 am with welcome note by staff editor Mrs. Sabina, which was followed by Principal’s address. Principal talked on how the college aims to publish the magazine and how the college conducted other art and cultural activities amidst the limitations of the pandemic. Mrs. Febeena, Assistant Professor of Malayalam, introduced the speaker with a detailed description of his profile which preceded the main session by the Chief guest Dr. Ambikasuthan Mangad, retired Professor , Kanhangad Nehru College , author, poet and script writer. In the session he threw light upon many aspects to be followed while drafting a magazine. He also talked about the strenuous effort he and the committee undertook for the award-winning magazine of which he was the staff editor, in 2003. He talked about how they divided it in eight sections of which the first section was about environment especially endosulfan victims, second part of which is a novel written by a group of 11 students, third section was a dictionary of regional words, other section included local history, memoirs of famous alumni, an article on the marginalised sections, the students’ articles and the annual report of the college. He stated that designing a magazine is not a piece of cake and also that originality should be maintained in the work. He also provided many tips to improve the quality of the magazine. After a half an hour talk , the interactive session commenced. The participants asked questions on how to produce quality works within the limitations of the Covid-19 pandemic, how and what messages can be conveyed in the present scenario, about other striking college magazines, the most important sections of a magazine etc.

The session winded up at 11.30 am with a vote of thanks by magazine editor Mohamed Shalikh. Students and staff from various colleges across Kerala participated in the session
