Student Initiative in Palliative (SIP), Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, Keezhattur and Palliative Care Society, Melattur, jointly organised a session 'Palliative Awareness Programme'on 12 August 2022 from 10.30am to 12pm in the college seminar hall. The session was coordinated by Ms. Ashida A.P, Asst Professor, Dept of Commerce and coordinator of SIP and was inaugurated by Ms. Saritha.  K, Head, Dept. of English. The session was handled by sreenivasan, Trainer, Palliative Care Society, Melattur in which Haneefa Master, Secretary,Palliative Care Society, Melattur and Abdul Razak, Former Chairman, Palliative Care Society,Melattur, participated.

The program started with an ice breaking session by distributing a questionnaire of 10 questions which included questions regarding Palliative Care and about nearest places of cultural and natural prominence. Students were instructed to fill the form by asking these questions to 10 other members and remember the answers and share them when asked. Students actively participated and carried out the entire instructions accordingly. During the talk Mr. Sreenivasan mentioned the role and Functioning of Palliative Care and how it serves the society by helping and caring the patients. He showed different programmes under Palliative Care to encourage students to be a volunteer of Palliative. And he asked to share the experience of students about patient care. The session was highly motivating. The college planned to implement a project regarding anti-drugs in campus and the society with collaboration of Palliative Care Society, Melattur. A Palliative volunteer team was decided to be formed for the same which will work with them to erdicate the usage of drugs among campus students initially and spread the service to the panchayath. The session ended after talking of Mr. Haneefa Master and Mr. Abdul Razak.
