Department of Economics, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, Keezhattoor, Perinthalmanna in connection with the World First Aid Day, organised an interaction with the students on the topic Different terminologies used in First Aid Practices on 14th September 2021 between 11.00 and 11.40am on Google meet. Mr. Muhammed Noufal. M, Head, Department of Economics, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science presented a pre-recorded video describing the various common terminologies used in First aid. He informed students that the initial hour was crucial for the injured person and that was termed as ‘Golden Hour’ where the medical support at the moment helped them to survive and back into life. He also presented the aim of the first aid as to preserve life, prevent further harm and promote speed recovery. In his presentation he also mentioned the importance of AED (Automated External Defibrillator) to restore normal rhythm of breathing while giving controlled level of shock and also mentioned the CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and chest compressions. Students of the III Semester BA Economics involved more on the discussion and shared their experience of drowning and vehicle accident they witnessed. The discussion came to an end at 11.40 am.
