Report on ACAS Outreach, Pronunciation Matters! Workshop for Anganawadi Workers of Perinthalmanna Municipality organised jointly by CDELS and Perinthalmanna Municipality on 5 January 2022 at College Campus at 10.30 AM.

The Centre for Development of English Language Skills (CDELS) under the Department of English, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, and Perinthalmanna Municipality jointly organised a workshop on the basics of English pronunciation titled ‘Pronunciation Matters!’ for Anganwadi workers under the municipality of Perinthalmanna on 5 January 2022 on the college campus. The inaugural ceremony started at 10.30 AM in the college Seminar Hall. Principal, Dr. Babu. P. K. welcomed the gathering. In the welcome note, he lauded the willingness and flexibility of the Anganwadi workers to learn new things. The inaugural address was given by Mr. Shaji. P., Chairperson, Municipality of Perinthalmanna. In his speech, he appreciated the college for the outreach activity delivered for the benefit of the community. Such initiatives from self-financing
colleges are praiseworthy, he added. He pointed out that age is not a factor when it comes to education and that teachers have to update themselves according to the changing requirements of the times. He opined that this kind of activity brings new hope to the primary level in the education sector. Mr. Faizal, Manager, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, felicitated on the occasion. In his short words, he congratulated the involved parties. Ms. Sainaba, ICDS Supervisor also felicitated on the occasion. A formal vote of thanks was given by Ms. Saritha. K., Head, Dept. of English. 26 Anganwadi workers participated in the workshops. Students of first BA Functional English were present. Ms. Renjitha. K. R., Assistant Professor of English, coordinated the event.
