Yoga is a discipline based on an extremely subtle science, which focuses on
bringing harmony between mind and body. It is an art and science of healthy living.
Yoga leads to a perfect harmony between mind and body, man and nature,
individual consciousness and universal consciousness.

Yoga Club at Alshifa College of Arts and Science is established with an aim to build
up psycho-physiological health, emotional harmony and manage daily stress in
teaching and non-teaching staff, students and the outside community. It’s integrated
with the curriculum to prepare the students physically and mentally for the union of
their physical, mental and spiritual faculties so that the students can become
healthier, saner and more cohesive members of the society and of the nation. The
Club also intends to extend its service to the public for enhancing the mental and
physical wellbeing of the community of which the institution is a part.

Yoga education helps in self-discipline and self-control, leading to immense amount
of awareness, concentration and higher level of consciousness. Briefly the aims and
objectives of Yoga Club are:

  1. To enable the student to have good health
  2. To practice mental hygiene
  3. To possess emotional stability
  4. To integrate moral values
  5. To attain higher level of consciousness
  6. To improve general immunity among the population
  7. To equip oneself with basic knowledge about one’s personality, to learn to handle
    oneself well in all life situations
  8. To learn techniques of gaining good health
  9. To develop a discriminative mind capable of knowing the real from the unreal
  10. To face the dualities of life with equanimity
  11. The Yoga Club observes International Yoga Day with a promise to practise Yoga
    and follow it daily and make it a routine. Follow up sessions are held to ensure and
    reinforce the aim of the Club. The Club invites experts in the field to train and equip
    the learners with the yogic practices befitting their physical condition.
