The Movie Club is a dynamic and inclusive community that seeks to foster a love for cinema among students. Our primary objective is to promote film-related activities, provide a platform for students to engage in filmmaking, and create an environment where members can explore and appreciate the world of cinema. We aim to encourage collaboration, creativity, and a deeper understanding of the art of filmmaking.
The Movie Club of Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, Keezhattur, Perinthalmanna, organized an engaging Movie Premiere: July, on 31 July 2025 at 9:00 AM. Held at the Conference Hall, the Movie Club premiered the movie, Kai Po Che. The event aimed to provide students with a unique cinematic experience that goes beyond mainstream entertainment.
The Movie Club, in collaboration with the Department of English and Thanimalayalam Club, screened the film “Kumbalangi Nights” to great acclaim in the Conference Hall on 12 August 2025. The movie, known for its poignant storytelling and strong characters, resonated with the audience. The screening provided a platform for discussion and reflection on themes such as family, relationships, and personal growth. The event fostered a sense of community among attendees, who engaged in thoughtful conversations about the film’s impact and relevance
The Department of English, in collaboration with the Library Council and Movie Club of Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, commemorated the legend Louis Braille in connection with his birth anniversary in the Seminar Hall and LH: 1 on 5 January 2026 at 12. 30 pm and 2 pm . The programme was organised to honour the life and enduring contributions of Louis Braille to the world of the visually challenged. The event began with a presentation segment that highlighted the life, struggles, and remarkable achievements of Louis Braille, with special emphasis on his invention of the Braille system. This was followed by the screening of the documentary Young Heroes: Louis Braille, which offered an inspiring and informative portrayal of his journey and vision. A discussion session was conducted after the screening, where students and faculty members reflected on Braille’s contributions and the importance of accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunities for the visually impaired.
The Faculty Development Centre, WDC, and Movie Club of Al Shifa College of Arts & Science organized a programme titled “Her Story on Screen”, a film screening and panel discussion, on 10 March 2026 at 2 PM in the Seminar Hall in connection with the International Women’s Day 2026. The programme was conducted for the faculty members of the college. As part of the event, three short films— Seeing Her World for a Day, Nottam, and Meanwhile She…— were screened. These films portrayed different aspects of women’s lives and highlighted the challenges and everyday struggles faced by women in society. Following the screening, the faculty members engaged in a thoughtful discussion on the themes presented in the films. The discussion focused particularly on the daily problems faced by women, gender roles, and the social expectations that shape women’s experiences. Participants shared their perspectives and reflected on how cinema can effectively portray social realities.
The Movie Club of Al Shifa College of Arts and Science celebrated World Environment Day with a thought-provoking event, “Lights- Camera – Eco- Action” on 10 June 2025. The session, held from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm, featured screenings of some impactful documentaries, including “Plastik,” “Migrants,” and Al Jazeera’s “What is Climate Change.” These films highlighted pressing environmental issues such as plastic pollution, climate-induced migration, and the broader implications of climate change. A lively discussion followed, where students actively participated and shared their insights on the themes presented. The event successfully raised awareness about environmental concerns and encouraged students to think critically about their role in addressing these issues. By fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment, the Movie Club’s initiative promoted sustainable practices and inspired students to take action.
The Movie Club of Al Shifa College of Arts and Science launched its monthly premiere series with a screening of the 2023 Indian bilingual biographical film “Ayisha” in LH 8 on 26 June 2025. The movie, directed by Aamir Pallikkal and produced by Zakariya Mohammed under Cross Border Cinema, is based on the life of Nilambur Ayisha and features Manju Warrier and Mona Tawil in lead roles, with Krishna Sankar and Radhika in supporting roles. The film tells the story of Ayisha, a domestic worker who migrates to the Gulf and develops a beautiful bond with her employer, Mama. The screening, which started at 10 am, was exclusively for selected members of the Movie Club and concluded at 12:30 pm.

Following the movie, an informal discussion allowed participants to share perspectives and analyze the cinematic techniques used in Chhotta Mumbai.
