As part of the Fifth Semester Clinical Nutrition course work, the students of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics conducted a market survey on 07 July 2026 as a preliminary step towards food product development. The survey was carried out in selected supermarkets and retail outlets in Perinthalmanna, including JamJoom Hypermarket, NESTO Hypermarket, Olive Super Market, and Supplyco Supermarket.
The objective of the survey was to evaluate commercially available food products by collecting information on product name, manufacturing and expiry dates, net quantity, ingredients, price, nutritional composition per 100 g, and product labeling. Product photographs were also documented to facilitate comparative analysis.
The survey provided students with practical exposure to market analysis, food labeling interpretation, and product evaluation, thereby supporting the development of innovative and nutritionally appropriate food products.
