The PG Department of Psychology, Al Shifa College of Arts & Science, organized a Community Extension Activity on the theme “Women Empowerment and Mental Health” on 4 September 2026 at 9:30 AM at Mariyam Islamic Complex, Thazhekkod.
The programme was conducted by Fathima Zahra K and Adisha K, students of the First Semester B.Sc. Psychology, with the participation of 15 students from Mariyam Islamic Complex.
The session focused on the importance of women’s empowerment and mental health, highlighting the psychological, emotional, and social factors that contribute to women’s overall well-being. The programme aimed to create awareness about self-confidence, emotional well-being, healthy relationships, education, equality, and equal opportunities for women.
The session also discussed the importance of recognizing mental health concerns and seeking appropriate support when necessary. The participants were encouraged to develop a positive attitude towards mental health, build self-confidence, and understand the importance of creating a supportive and empowering environment for women.
The activity provided an opportunity for the psychology students to share their knowledge with the community and develop their communication, presentation, and community engagement skills.
Overall, the programme was a meaningful and informative community extension initiative, promoting awareness about women’s empowerment and mental health among the participants of Mariyam Islamic Complex.
