The Centre for Development of English Language Skills (CDELS), Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, in collaboration with the PG Department of English, Bafakhy Yatheem Khana Arts and Science College for Women (BYKAS), Kalpakancherry, Puthanathani, Malappuram, organised a bridge session titled “Bridging Literary Appreciation and Language Skills” on 23 July 2026 at 10 am- 12.30 pm at the BYKAS College Auditorium for the first-year UG and PG students of English Language and Literature.

The session was led by Dr. Saritha K., Vice Principal and Assistant Professor of English, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science. Through an engaging and interactive presentation, she demonstrated how the study of literature can significantly enhance language proficiency by strengthening reading, speaking, writing, vocabulary, critical thinking, and communication skills. The session encouraged students to appreciate literature not only as an academic discipline but also as a powerful medium for developing effective language skills.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from the students, who actively engaged in discussions and interactive language-based activities throughout the session. 39 students benefited from the session.
