The Women Development Cell, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, organized a Menstrual Cup Awareness Drive titled “Switch to Comfort” on 22 July 2026 from 9.00 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. at the Seminar Hall.
The awareness session was led by Prof. Dr. Sheeba S., Vice Principal, Al Shifa College of Nursing, Perinthalmanna. The program aimed to create awareness about menstrual hygiene and promote the use of menstrual cups as a safe, eco-friendly, economical, and comfortable alternative to disposable sanitary products.
A total of 60 students participated in the program, including First Year B.Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics students, Second Year B.Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics students, and M.Sc. Psychology students.
During the session, the resource person explained the importance of menstrual hygiene, the correct use of menstrual cups, their advantages, safety measures, cleaning and maintenance procedures, and common misconceptions associated with their use. She also emphasized the environmental benefits of menstrual cups by highlighting their role in reducing plastic waste and supporting sustainable menstrual health practices.
The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer discussion, where students actively clarified their doubts and shared their views regarding menstrual hygiene management. The program successfully enhanced students’ knowledge and confidence about menstrual cup usage and encouraged informed decision-making regarding menstrual health.
