The Department of English, in association with the English Club and CDELS, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, conducted an extension activity titled “Beyond Books” on 22nd July 2026 at DMLPS Pattikkad West.

The primary objective of the programme was to promote joyful learning among primary school children while encouraging college students to apply their academic knowledge through community engagement. The student volunteers organized a series of interactive activities, including, word games, creative art activities, and group-based learning exercises, creating a lively and engaging learning atmosphere.

The programme provided a rewarding experience for both the school children and the student volunteers. It enhanced the children’s enthusiasm for learning and helped the college students strengthen their communication, creativity, leadership, and classroom management skills. The active participation of the students and the warm cooperation extended by the school authorities ensured the success of the programme. Beyond Books stands as a meaningful initiative that reflects the Department of English’s vision of extending learning beyond textbooks and fostering a spirit of social commitment and educational outreach.
