The inauguration of the College Activities and the Student Induction began at 9.00 am on 2 November 2020, with an introduction of the college. The guests, faculty members, parents and students were present online on G Meet and were given official welcome by Saritha. K, Head of English. Dr.Babu. P. K., Principal, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, in his address, spoke about his vision and the novelty in teaching that is going to be practiced in the college. The Management Trustee, Shifa Medicare Trust, Dr. P. Unneen expressed his expectations about the new venture and his readiness to support in the future activities of the college.

The Chief Guest, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, University of Calicut, Dr. M. K. Jayaraj, began his inaugural address with a discussion on the challenges confronted by the humanity due to the Covid pandemic. He reflected on how online teaching became a substitute to face-to-face teaching and mentioned about the National Education Policy, its challenges and opportunities and dissemination of knowledge. He appreciated the intervention and involvement of Al Shifa group of Institutions in the field of education and emphasized that education is not only for job seeking but also for providing jobs.

Mr. Pilakkal Hamza, Chief Executive, Shifa Medicare, and Mr. Suhail Hamza, GM, representing the management, felicitated the occasion. Mr. Muhammed Noufal. M, Head of Economics proposed the vote of thanks. The session was wound up at 11.30 after the faculty members, Ms.Ashida A. P, Mr.Irshad. K, Ms. Ashwathy. S. Kumar introduced themselves to the students.

On 3rd November 2020, the Business Session was inaugurated by Dr. Babu. P. K, Principal, Al Shifa College of Arts and Science. He gave an overview of vivid facilities arranged at college for enhancing their variety of extra and co-curricular tastes. This was followed by the introduction of college activities by faculty members. Ms. Saritha. K, Head of English, gave a detailed description of different Clubs including Arabic Club, English Club, Thani Malayalam Club, Pain and Palliative Care Unit, Movie Club, ED Club and Women Development Centre set up at college and their roles on the campus. She reminded students about maintaining discipline inside the campus premises. Students were also introduced the Student Redressal Cell to which they can approach with their grievances. The consequences of Ragging were detailed to the students and the role of Anti-Ragging Cell in the context was also explained. She gave a clear picture of the types of examinations including, Monthly/Sessional Examination, Internal Examination and University Examination going to be held at the college.

Mr. Muhammed Noufal. M, Head of Economics talked about Student Support initiatives at the college including, Career Training and Placement Cell, Project Quality Cell, Scholarship Cell, Civil Service Coaching Centre, Innovation Centre, Scholar Mentor Programme, Skill Enhancement Programme and Medical Inspection facilities and how making use of these facilities would groom them from a student towards accomplishing their career dreams. He also added how the college has taken initiatives to arrange coaching camps for sports events, to train students for Arts and Cultural Fest and to bring out college magazine with students creative contributions.

How technology is going to be integrated to the curriculum was explained by Mr. Irshad, Faculty for Arabic. He persuaded students to ensure their participation in starting and contributing to the Department Blogs/student blogs and podcast. Online facilities available at the college and Flipped learning method introduced at the college was described by him. Students were also asked to make use of the G Suite account in which they are provided with an account.

Ms.Ashida. A. P, Asst. Prof. of Commerce talked about the Library, Computer Lab and Language Lab set up at the college. Ms. Aswathy. S. Kumar, Asst. Prof. of Psychology, proposed the vote of thanks and the programme came to an end at 12.
On November 4th, Heads of each departments briefed the syllabus of each courses to the students. They were made aware of the Add on Courses offered to them in the first semester- General and Specific Add on courses. Students were also introduced the text books prescribed by the University for each course thereby bringing an end to the three-day Student Induction Programme.
