Report of the Webinar on, ‘Career and Academic Opportunities in Economics’, held on 23rd July 2021.

Department of Economics at Al Shifa College of Arts and Science, Kizhattoor, Perinthalmanna, organized a webinar on ‘Career and Academic Opportunities in Economics’, for students of Economics and those who stepped out of Plus two and plan to join for BA Economics, on 23rd July 2021, Friday between 10.00 am and 11.00 am on Google Meet.

Dr. Abdul Azeez N. P, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, Aligarh Muslim University gave a detailed presentation on the academic and career opportunities in Economics. He stressed, Indian Economic Service as a glamorous job exclusively reserved for the Economics students. He conveyed participants to take Economics as choice and start loving the subject and explore the various academic prospects of the subject.

He envisaged that everyone should have concrete conceptual clarity and develop key skills for various academic prospects. He motivated the participants to consciously develop various skills for prospering in various jobs. He also mentioned various courses after plus two and informed students to take diploma courses to refine and get update knowledge. He shared his personal as well as career achievements stories and advocated students to learn consciously and to read standard books instead of depending on study aids.

Mr. Muhammed Noufal M, Head, Department of Economics delivered a welcome note followed by the Principal address. Dr. Babu. P. K, Principal, shared the paradoxity of the subject selection as Economics by taking both the globally as well as regionally.

Fathimath Naseehath, II Sem BA Economics raised her doubt regarding the skills required to develop during studies to which he replied that students should develop critical thinking as well as problem solving and communication skills. Muhammed Yaseen, II Sem BA Economics proposed vote of thanks. The presentation came to an end at 11:20 am.
